Groff Pet Loss Services is a dedicated pet cremation facility located at 2602 Bogart Road in Huron, Ohio, operated by the family that has long served the community through Groff Funeral Homes & Crematory. In 2010, the Groff family recognized that pet owners in Erie County deserved the same standard of transparent, locally accountable care for their animal companions as for their human loved ones — and they built an exclusive pet cremation facility to provide exactly that. Groff Pet Loss Services is the only such facility in the Sandusky, Huron, and Milan area, which means your pet stays in the care of staff you know and trust from intake through the return of cremains.

The facility is staffed by licensed funeral directors, licensed crematory operators — a distinction not required by Ohio state law but voluntarily maintained by Groff — and peer support specialists with backgrounds in psychology and sociology. Families are welcome to tour the facility before they ever need services, and Groff is one of the only pet cremation providers in the area to offer a Last Goodbye and Cremation Witness option, where families can be present at the start of the cremation process in a private viewing area. They also provide online pet obituaries — a unique offering in their service area — that allow friends and family to share memories and condolences.

What to Expect

All services at Groff Pet Loss Services are appointment-based; call 419-433-4300 to schedule or use their 24-hour answering service if your pet passes outside of business hours. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, 9 AM to 4 PM, with after-hours and weekend availability for an additional fee. Police officers, firefighters, EMTs, paramedics, and military pet owners receive a $25 discount on any cremation package, and K-9 unit dogs and military service dogs are cremated at no charge. Payment is due in full at the time of service. The Groff family's commitment to transparency — including facility tours and witnessed cremation — reflects a standard of care that treats every pet as a true family member.
