Hanai Pet Cremation is a dedicated pet aftercare provider serving Rochester, Minnesota and the surrounding region. The service was founded by Gilmore, a U.S. veteran, after he personally experienced a deeply distressing situation when placing his dog Kekoa in the care of a cremation provider. He vowed that no pet owner should have to endure such an experience and established Hanai Pet Cremation to provide the respectful, private farewell that every family and their companion deserves. Hanai is affiliated with the Cremation Association of North America (CANA), the Rochester Area Chamber of Commerce, and the Minnesota Sheriffs' Association, and is certified as a Minnesota Veteran-Owned Small Business.

Hanai's facility at 3232 East River Road NE in Rochester is designed with grieving families in mind. Private, secluded areas allow owners to spend final moments saying goodbye before their pet enters care, and Hanai maintains a full open-door policy — families who wish to witness the cremation process are welcome to do so. A 24-hour emergency help line (507-403-PETS) ensures that no family is left without support outside of regular business hours. For families whose pets pass at home during evenings or weekends, after-hours pickup appointments can be arranged with advance notice. Hanai has also partnered with Dr. Scott Miller, DVM of Miller Mobile Veterinary Service to offer both in-facility and in-home euthanasia services when families need them.

What to Expect

Hanai's standard turnaround for cremation is two business days, with priority same-day or next-day service available for families who need a faster return. During regular hours (Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.), walk-ins are welcomed without an appointment, and the team can arrange pickup from your home or your veterinary clinic. For pick-up from an emergency veterinary clinic that operates overnight, Hanai can coordinate an after-hours appointment for an additional fee. Once cremation is complete, families can choose to collect remains at the facility or arrange return delivery. Hanai's Certificate of Individual Cremation provides written confirmation that your pet was cremated privately and that the remains returned are solely those of your companion.
