Heaven at Home Pet Hospice

About Heaven at Home Pet Hospice
Heaven at Home Pet Hospice is a locally owned and independent in-home veterinary practice serving Grand Rapids and the broader West Michigan region. The practice was founded by Dr. Laurie Brush, a Kalamazoo College and Michigan State University graduate who has been practicing veterinary medicine since 1998. Dr. Brush is among the first 100 veterinarians nationwide to achieve advanced Certification as a Hospice and Palliative Care Veterinarian through the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care (IAAHCP), a distinction that reflects her deep commitment to specialized end-of-life care.
Heaven at Home's approach is designed to support pets and families from the earliest signs of decline through the end of life. The practice emphasizes that hospice care can begin as soon as a pet's quality of life starts to change — families don't need to wait for a crisis to reach out. All services are performed by licensed veterinarians in the home environment, which allows for a more thorough and accurate assessment of how the pet is truly doing in their everyday surroundings. The team also helps families navigate one of the most difficult decisions a pet owner faces: knowing when the time is right to say goodbye.

What to Expect
Families can begin by scheduling a virtual quality-of-life consultation, which allows a Heaven at Home hospice veterinarian to assess your pet's condition via telehealth and help you understand what options are appropriate for where your pet is in their health journey. When in-person care is warranted, a veterinarian comes to your home to provide hospice support, pain management, or euthanasia in the environment where your pet is most comfortable. Following the natural death or euthanasia of a pet, the team assists with aftercare options including cremation or burial, and provides grief support resources to help the family in the days and weeks ahead.
