Journey's End

About Journey's End
Journey's End is a solo mobile veterinary practice based in Merrimack, New Hampshire, founded and operated by Dr. Sharon Sernik. Dr. Sernik has been a licensed veterinarian since 1994 and focuses exclusively on providing compassionate at-home euthanasia for dogs and cats. After relocating to Merrimack, she wanted to extend to New Hampshire the specialized in-home end-of-life service she had offered to clients during her earlier career, recognizing that for many animals — and many families — a clinic visit in the final moments adds unnecessary stress to an already difficult experience.
Journey's End serves all of New Hampshire and North Central Massachusetts, with Dr. Sernik traveling directly to the family's home to perform the procedure. She takes a gentle, unhurried approach: after sedating the pet, she allows families as much time as they need — sometimes up to an hour — to be with their companion before the final step. Dr. Sernik also speaks Spanish ("mas o menos bien por una gringa," as she notes) and the practice has earned a 4.8-star rating from nearly 100 online reviewers. As a proud member of the International Association for Animal Hospice and Palliative Care, she brings both professional training and personal commitment to every home visit.

What to Expect
To book with Journey's End, families call Dr. Sernik directly at (603) 420-8074. Because this is a solo practice, she may be with another family or working at an area veterinary hospital, so patience is encouraged — if you haven't heard back within a few hours, calling again is perfectly acceptable. Please note that the phone is not checked from Friday sundown through Saturday evening, or on Jewish holidays. Dr. Sernik asks families to complete a Euthanasia Authorization Form and Patient History Form in advance of the appointment. On the day of the visit, she brings everything needed for a calm, at-home experience, sedates the pet so they fall asleep peacefully, and gives the family as much private time as they need before proceeding. A clay paw print and sympathy card are provided before she leaves.
