Kindred Spirits Pet Services

About Kindred Spirits Pet Services
Kindred Spirits Pet Services is an end-of-life care practice in Tucson, Arizona, led by Dr. Barrett and focused entirely on helping families through the final chapter of their pets' lives. Unlike a general veterinary practice, Kindred Spirits dedicates its entire mission to euthanasia, aquamation, and grief support — giving every family the undivided attention and compassion this moment deserves. The practice operates out of an office at 3544 N. Romero Road in Tucson and travels throughout the surrounding communities including Oro Valley, Marana, Sahuarita, Green Valley, and Vail.
One of Kindred Spirits' most distinctive offerings is pet aquamation — an environmentally friendly alternative to flame cremation that uses warm water, gentle water flow, and alkalinity to accelerate natural decomposition. This process, known scientifically as alkaline hydrolysis, produces no harmful greenhouse gas emissions, uses more than 90% less energy than traditional cremation, and returns up to 20% more remains to the family. Kindred Spirits partners with Cholla Afterlife to perform aquamation services, and individual aquamation returns remains to families within 10 to 14 days.

What to Expect
When you schedule a home euthanasia appointment with Kindred Spirits, Dr. Barrett arrives at your home to meet your family and your pet. She takes time to explain the process, discuss aftercare options, and complete minimal paperwork before proceeding at a pace that is comfortable for everyone present. A sedation injection is given first, allowing your pet to relax gradually before the final step. After your pet passes, Dr. Barrett allows the family time to be with their companion before respectfully transporting them for aftercare. Appointments are scheduled for one hour, with additional time available upon request. Families electing individual aquamation can expect remains ready for pickup within 10 to 14 days.
