Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park is one of the most historically significant pet cemeteries in the United States, founded on September 4, 1928 by celebrity veterinarian Dr. Eugene Jones. Located at 5068 Old Scandia Ln in Calabasas, California, the park has been a sanctuary for beloved animal companions for nearly a century. Its grounds hold the remains of some of Hollywood's most famous animal stars, including Tawny (one of the MGM Lions), Jiggs — "Cheetah" from the Tarzan films — and Topper, the trusty steed of Hopalong Cassidy. The pets of human celebrities also rest here, including animals belonging to Rudolph Valentino, Mae West, Humphrey Bogart, Lauren Bacall, and Jimmy Durante.
Today, Los Angeles Pet Memorial Park serves all of Los Angeles and Ventura Counties, offering comprehensive burial, cremation, and memorial services. The park's expert and compassionate staff guides families through every step of their pet's final arrangements, from initial contact through memorial placement. Visiting hours vary by day: the office is open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday from 8 AM to 4:30 PM (park closes at 5 PM), and Sunday the park is open 9 AM to 4 PM with the office closed. Wednesday the park and office are both closed.
