Paws Finding Peace

About Paws Finding Peace
Paws Finding Peace is an end-of-life veterinary practice based at 904 Meadow Street in Chicopee, Massachusetts, founded by Dr. Lauren Atkins. Dr. Atkins created the practice because she believes that providing a peaceful, pain-free passing is one of the most profound gifts a pet owner can offer their companion. Saying goodbye is always hard, but doing so at home — in familiar surroundings, with family gathered — significantly reduces stress and anxiety for both the pet and the family. Paws Finding Peace serves Western Massachusetts as well as Enfield, Connecticut and surrounding towns.
In addition to in-home euthanasia, Paws Finding Peace added water-based cremation (also known as aquamation or alkaline hydrolysis) to their services so families can receive the highest level of care and accountability through the entire end-of-life process. The practice also provides dedicated grief resources, including guidance specifically written for families with children navigating pet loss. Care coordinators can be reached by phone or text seven days a week.

What to Expect
When you contact Paws Finding Peace, a care coordinator will work with you to answer questions and schedule an appointment. The website asks families to fill out a brief form to help the team understand your situation before your appointment. Dr. Atkins will come to your home, and the process is designed to be entirely at your pace — you decide where your pet rests, who is present, and how much information you want to receive beforehand. For families who choose water-based cremation after the in-home appointment, the team maintains care and oversight throughout the entire cremation process to ensure your pet's ashes are returned with confidence. Phone calls after 5:30 p.m. on weekdays are generally returned the following business day; after-hours emergencies should be directed to a local emergency clinic.
