Paws of Serenity is a specialized in-home veterinary service based in Fargo, North Dakota, offering compassionate end-of-life care and alternative medicine consultations for pets in the Fargo-Moorhead area. The practice is led by Dr. Kristine Haroldson, a North Dakota native who grew up on a farm and developed a lifelong love of caring for animals. After earning her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine in 2015, Dr. Haroldson returned to North Dakota and has since built a reputation for providing deeply personal, anxiety-free end-of-life care for pets and their families.

Dr. Haroldson holds an impressive array of certifications relevant to her work, including Elite Fear Free Certified Professional, Certified Peaceful Euthanasia Veterinarian, and additional certifications in Rehabilitation and Physical Medicine, Veterinary Acupuncture, and Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy. She is willing to travel up to 2.5 hours from Fargo to reach families who may not have access to in-home services closer to home, and she schedules appointments flexibly around her clinical work to accommodate families during their time of need.

What to Expect

When scheduling with Paws of Serenity, Dr. Haroldson arrives at your home within 10 to 15 minutes of the scheduled appointment time. She begins with a sedation medication given in your pet's back leg — the only sensation your pet will feel — and sedation takes full effect within 5 to 20 minutes, allowing the remainder of the process to proceed gently and without distress. After your pet has passed, Dr. Haroldson creates a paw print keepsake and coordinates transportation to a crematorium for families who wish to pursue private cremation, with ashes returned through your primary veterinarian or by other arrangement.
