About Pet Pilgrimage Crematory & Memorials

Pet Pilgrimage Crematory & Memorials is a full-service pet end-of-life provider with two locations serving the Lake Norman and Charlotte metro area of North Carolina. Their main facility at 494 East Plaza Drive in Mooresville houses both their private crematory and aquamation center — meaning your pet never leaves their personal care for processing. A second location in Denver, NC (2279 N NC-16 Business Hwy) operates by appointment with 24-hour assistance available from both sites.

A standout feature of Pet Pilgrimage is their aquamation service — also known as alkaline hydrolysis or water cremation — which offers a flameless, eco-friendly alternative to traditional cremation. Aquamation uses a water-and-alkali solution, produces no greenhouse gas emissions, requires over 90% less energy than flame-based cremation, generates 1/10 the carbon footprint, and returns approximately 20% more ash to the family. The entire process takes about 20 hours and leaves only the pet's mineral bone matter, which is then processed into a fine powder placed in a selected urn.

Services Offered

Pet Pilgrimage Crematory & Memorials provides the following services to families in Mooresville, Denver, and the greater Lake Norman area:

  • Private cremation — Two collection options: Remembrance Collection ($240, wooden urn) and Heartfelt Collection ($215, royal blue biodegradable urn). Each includes a clay paw print, keepsake fur clipping, remembrance wildflower seeds, Rainbow Bridge bookmark, online pet memorial, and cremation certificate.
  • Aquamation (water cremation / alkaline hydrolysis) — Eco-friendly flameless alternative; same keepsake inclusions as private cremation; ~20% more ashes returned
  • Communal cremation — Ashes scattered in a private, serene location by Pet Pilgrimage; no remains returned; memorial keepsakes (such as clay paw prints) available to purchase separately
  • Pet transportation — Staff arrive in a dedicated Pet Pilgrimage vehicle with an angel blanket and pet gurney; pickup available from home or veterinary clinic up to 1.5 hours from Mooresville
  • Memorial products — Wide selection of urns and memorial gifts
  • K-9 service dog tributes — Special personalized memorial services for working and service dogs
