Pine Ridge Pet Cemetery was established in 1907, making it one of the oldest pet cemeteries in the United States. Located on the Animal Rescue League of Boston's 27-acre campus in Dedham, Massachusetts, the cemetery is the final resting place for nearly 17,000 pets across its historic grounds at 238 Pine Street. The Animal Rescue League of Boston (ARL) has been committed to the perpetual care of these existing lots, maintaining the grounds as a place of quiet remembrance for families with buried companions.
Due to operational changes, Pine Ridge no longer sells new burial plots or offers in-house private cremation services. However, ARL continues to facilitate private pet cremations through their contracted partner Final Gift, and can refer families seeking burial services to other reputable local organizations. The cemetery grounds remain open to the public year-round from 8:00 a.m. to dusk, allowing families with pets already buried there to visit freely. The site has clear visiting guidelines to protect the safety of visitors, staff, and landscapers.
