Rainbow Bridge Services is the private pet cremation program operated by the Nebraska Humane Society, based in Omaha, Nebraska. Named after the beloved legend in which pets cross over to a peaceful place when they pass, this program was built on the belief that every pet is unforgettable and unique. The Nebraska Humane Society offers Rainbow Bridge cremations with the same respect they would want for their own pets, and all proceeds from the program stay directly within the shelter to support homeless animals who need medical treatments and safe haven.

Rainbow Bridge Services has two locations to serve the greater Omaha area — the main facility at 8929 Fort Street in Omaha and a secondary location in Gretna (by appointment). The program coordinates with every veterinary clinic in Omaha, Council Bluffs, and surrounding communities, making it easy for families to access these services through their existing vet relationship. Families may also bring their pet directly to the Nebraska Humane Society during business hours with no appointment required.

What to Expect

Rainbow Bridge performs private cremations, meaning only one pet at a time is cremated in their private crematorium. Each pet is individually hand-placed into the chamber, and upon completion, the ashes are hand-collected and placed in a container of the family's choice — giving you complete assurance that the cremains you receive belong to your beloved companion. Cremations are performed daily in order of arrival, with a typical turnaround of three to seven business days. To arrange services, simply inform your veterinarian that you are choosing Rainbow Bridge; they will handle transportation. Alternatively, you can bring your pet directly to the NHS main building during regular hours and let the desk attendant know you need Rainbow Bridge services. Notification is sent when cremation is complete, and ashes can be picked up at the NHS main building or at your veterinarian's office.
