Sunset Creek Pet Cremations was founded by Andrew and Courtney, a couple from the Atchison, Kansas area whose path to pet aftercare began with the heartbreaking loss of their beloved 16-year-old cat, Buffy. After turning to prayer and reflection, they recognized a genuine need for compassionate, locally rooted pet cremation services in their community — and built Sunset Creek to fill that gap. Located at 8797 US Highway 59 in Atchison, the business serves families throughout northeast Kansas and the surrounding region.

Sunset Creek's approach is both personal and practical. They offer tiered private cremation packages — including the Basic, Standard, Faithful Friend, and Loyal Companion packages — each designed to give families meaningful options at a range of price points. All packages include a cremation certificate, and most include urn selections, paw print or fur clipping keepsakes, and a $5 donation to the Humane Society in the pet's name. A social media memorial post is also included with every package, offering families a way to share their pet's story. Each pet is assigned a unique metal ID tag that travels with them through every step of the process, so families can have full confidence they are receiving their own pet's remains. Typical turnaround for private cremation is 1–3 business days for in-stock urn selections; custom urns and cremation jewelry generally take 5–7 days to arrive.
